WELCOME TO DOSTANA
Faith and cultural exchange.
The word "Dostana" in Hindi means a deep and abiding friendship.

WHAT WE DO
Our group exists to facilitate ongoing faith and cultural exchange visits between the Uniting Church, Queensland Synod and the Church of North India, Amritsar Diocese. We also support the work of Uniting World and their projects in north India including the Diocesan Girls' Hostel based in Amritsar.
SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES
Our primary activity is the conduct of immersion experience visits to north India with the help of the Diocese of Amritsar. We enable people connected with the Uniting Church to experience church life as well as see the amazing cultural and historic sights in and around Amritsar, Himachal Pradesh and Delhi. From time to time we also facilitate visits by members of the Church of North India to Australia.
Our main project interest is the Diocesan Girls' Hostel in Amritsar. This hostel accommodates around 30 disadvantaged girls and ensures they receive proper nutrition, a stable environment and a good education. The activity is overseen and funded by Uniting World and donations can be directed to one of two locations. A capital fund which finances the hostel through interest earned, or an operational fund for day-to-day financial needs.
